Take photographs of Malaysian forest to win prizes worth RM80,000

KUALA LUMPUR: Prizes worth RM80,000 are up for grabs in the Malaysian Timber Council's (MTC) Photography Competition 2011.
MTC is calling on photographers and photography enthusiasts to take up the challenge of capturing the natural splendour of the Malaysian forest.

The contest reflects the theme of the "International Year of the Forest 2011" (IYF 2011) -- "Forest for the People".

It is divided into four categories -- forest landscape, flora and fauna, wood and its many uses, and composition and forms.

For each category, the first prize is an iPad 2 64GB camera. The second and third prizes are a Nikon DSLR camera and a Canon ultra compact digital camera respectively.

The first, second and third prize winners will also get RM5,000, RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.

Ten contestants will receive consolation prizes consisting of RM300 and MTC's publication on timber applications entitled Timeless Living worth RM170.

Malaysian citizens and residents, regardless of age or level of photography skill, can take part in the contest.

Entries must be submitted before 11.59pm on Aug 31.

There is no entry fee. Contestants can register online.

All submissions are final. Winners will be notified via email in October.
